The Czech Technical University in Prague was founded in 1707 and that’s the reason about the fact that the CVTU is the oldest technical universities in central Europe and one of the biggest technical universities in Europe. Thanks to the experience that the university has acquired, the CVTU was ranked 501st and 550th place among the 4,200 universities around the world.

Nowadays, the CVTU takes a census of 3 300 workers (teachers, administration…) and welcomes 21 000 students from Czech Republic or in exchange studies programs like Erasmus or the TIME exchange program. Some old students who worked in the CVTU became famous thanks to their inventions like the pioneer of the railway, Franz-Josef Gerstner.
